You'll need your vault key to get back in.
Just another password manager...
Or is it? Egg Password has no cookies, no trackers, no ads. Nothing. It's 100% free. The entire codebase is less than 1MB, exists as a single HTML file, and can run fully air-gapped if needed!
So what?
Here comes the interesting part: Egg Password is deterministic.
Same URL + username + optional custom settings = Same unique password for that specific combination.
Results appear random, but it's just controlled chaos. Input determines output. It's math.Own your data.
Built-in password managers are quite good these days, but maybe more importantly, they are convenient. However, that convenience comes at the cost of true data ownership and stewardship. Here? Vaults are saved in your web browser's local storage, safely encrypted when locked. Need access on another device? Restore with the backup cipher text and its matching vault key. Your very own portable mini-database.
Why bother?
Egg Password was created to prevent lock-outs if somehow access to your password manager is unavailable. By being deterministic, it's theoretically possible to always use Egg's default settings and not rely on its vaults at all: Use a good but unforgettable vault key, create a simple and consistent system for sites and usernames, and one should be able to recover all of their passwords from memory. That said, properly managed vaults allow for deep customizations and overall just makes life easier. So...

This section explains how Egg Password handles information, in plain terms.
No data collection. Egg Password does not collect, log, or transmit any personal data, passwords, vault keys, or usage information to the developer or to any server. There is no backend for this application to send data to.
No cookies or trackers. This application does not use cookies, analytics, advertising identifiers, or any third-party tracking or telemetry scripts.
Local-only storage. Any data the application saves β such as your encrypted vault β is written solely to your own browser's local storage, on your own device. It never leaves your device through this application, and the developer has no access to it, no ability to view it, and no ability to recover it.
No third parties. Egg Password does not share information with, or receive information from, any third-party service, advertiser, or analytics provider, because it does not communicate over the network at all during normal use.
Children's privacy. Because no data is collected from anyone, no data is knowingly or unknowingly collected from children.
Your control. Since all data stays in your browser's local storage, you can delete it at any time by clearing your browser data for this site, or by using the application's own delete/purge options.

Your vault key is used to generate all your passwords β changing it will produce completely different passwords for every entry.
Before switching, Egg will snapshot all your current generated passwords and store them alongside each entry so you can reference them while updating your accounts one by one.
Once you've updated an account, you can dismiss that entry's old password from within the entry modal.
If a passkey is enrolled it will be un-enrolled and must be set up again with the new key.
Enter your current vault key, then your new vault key below.
New keys don't match, please verify.
β Vault key changed
Old generated passwords have been saved to each entry. Open any entry to find its old password, copy or drag-to-fill it when updating that account, then dismiss it once done.
You must manually remove this vault's passkey from your passkey manager (e.g. iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager). If you don't, stale credentials will remain saved there.
Re-enabling passkey later will require setting up a brand new key.
Egg vaults use local storage in your browser, tied to your device and not on the cloud. If you ever lose your device or clear your cache, you'll need a valid backup to restore access.
